The technology allows us to index data directly on the offline tapes, so you can search for relevant information. We then restore only the files and e-mail that you need – a method which offers tremendous time- and cost-savings over the traditional approach, in which the entire tape contents are restored and indexed before searching and extraction can commence. Most commonly-used backup formats, including ArcServ, NetBackup and Backup Exec are supported, and the tool can provide full text and metadata indexing of hundreds of unstructured file formats. Additionally, Tape Discovery supports term, Boolean, and pattern searching, and features dynamic de-duplication, which enables queries to return only unique files.
